and said, "My lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, please don’t go away from your servant.
Abraham complained to Abimelech because of a water well, which Abimelech’s servants had violently taken away.
Abimelech said, "I don’t know who has done this thing. You didn’t tell me, neither did I hear of it, until today."
Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers;
I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people
who have set themselves against me on every side.
You sons of men, how long shall my glory be turned into dishonor?
Will you love vanity, and seek after falsehood?
In whose eyes a vile man is despised,
but who honors those who fear Yahweh;
he who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and doesn’t change;
Do you indeed speak righteousness, silent ones? Do you judge blamelessly, you sons of men?
I will set no vile thing before my eyes. I hate the deeds of faithless men. They will not cling to me.
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife; but every fool will be quarreling.
Behold, the Lord Yahweh will help me; who is he who shall condemn me? Behold, they all shall wax old as a garment, the moth shall eat them up.
Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who adorn yourselves with torches around yourselves; walk in the flame of your fire, and among the brands that you have kindled. You shall have this of my hand; you shall lie down in sorrow.
They said to her, "You are crazy!" But she insisted that it was so. They said, "It is his angel."
But he, beckoning to them with his hand to be silent, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, "Tell these things to James, and to the brothers." Then he departed, and went to another place.
